Barack Obama is coming to DC on May 23rd

Presidential candidate Barack Obama will be coming to Washington, DC on May 23rd for the "Generation O" fundraising event. I thought I would do my part in publicizing this fundraiser. It will be at the H2O Restaurant and Lounge with tickets ranging from $100 to $500. The Obama campaign is offering $50 discount tickets for students.

This fundraiser is considered a small dollar event despite a regular priced ticket starts at $100. I'm glad Obama is holding somewhat affordable fundraising events where he shows up in person. Compared to other candidates like Clinton who don't even consider making an appearance at a fundraiser unless there is a $2000 admission charge.

Although now I hear that Hillary's campaign is planning on hosting more small-dollar events like what Obama's campaign has successfully done. It's nice to know that Hillary has decided to take time away from checking the latest poll and mingle with us, the common folk.

Here's the link to sign up and donate for the May 23rd Obama fundraiser: https://donate.barackobama.com/page/contribute/H2Obama . Tickets are bound to go fast.

First a Simpsons movie...now Simpsons theme park ride

Despite being on the air since 1990, the Simpsons have no signs of slowing down. The cartoon family will finally be in its first movie this July. I'm a big Simpsons fan and will most likely see the movie the very first day it is out. Now there are definite plans for a Simpsons theme park ride at both Universal Studios theme parks in Florida and California. The CNN story states that Simpsons creator Matt Groening will be directly involved in the ride's design.

I have had the opinion for a quite a few years now that the Simpsons deserve to have an entire theme park, not just a ride. Taking a page from Disney World, you could have life-size recreations of the Simpson's house, Moe's Tavern, the Quickie Mart, Mr. Burn's mansion, the Flanders' house, the nuclear power plant, and Springfield Elementary. Expanding on the Disney theme, you could mine classic episodes for the names of different lands in the theme park. Some of the obivious choices would be Itchy Scratchy Land and Kamp Krusty. The possiblities on a Simpsons theme park design are endless. I would be willing to offer my additional thoughts for a modest consulting fee.

For those who miss Boston sports talk radio

If you're like me, you enjoying listening to Boston's premier sports talk radio station, WEEI, but you live outside their broadcasting area. Well you no longer have to suffer through inferior sports talk radio, WEEI is available to listen on the Internet.

Some of you may say that I should just listen to the DC sports talk station, SportsTalk 980. I say, "Hell no!" I rather be locked in a room with Rosie O'Donnell and Jerry Falwell than listen to a station discussing Redskins, Wizards and Capitals. I tried listening to some of SportsTalk 980's shows and none of them can compete with WEEI's flagship show, the Big Show with the Big O. If you're a true Boston sports fan, you know exactly what I'm talking about. If you have never heard the show, you're missing out.

More on the Moss trade

It has been two days since the Randy Moss trade and I'm still in a state of disbelief.

A Boston Globe story shows that thanks should be given to Tom Brady for restructuring his contract which cleared the necessary cap space for the trade to happen.

I think the general opinion concerning the acquistion with Patriots fans and the local sports media is very favorable. Those who are against the trade are few and far in between. Dan Shaughnessy, in his recurring role as grumpy Boston sports writer, writes that Patriots fans have conveniently forgotten Moss's past incidents now that he wears a New England uniform.

Pats fans have not forgotten Moss's past, we just know his current circumstances. This is the Moss's last and best chance to win a championship. Judging from the conference call Moss participated in on Sunday for the Boston media, he sounds like a player who has enough money and now just wants to get a ring.

Pats fans are not naive and know that NFL teams are not made up of choir boys

As long as Pats players stay out of the police blotter, play hard, do not appear in any Chunky Soup commericals, sign an occasional autograph, that's enough for me.
