It's been a while since I last posted. Not to fear, I'm back. I'm going to make it my goal to have at least one post a week. I think from now on I'm going to return to more fun subject matter and not so much of a focus on current events. I'm plugged into the non-stop 24/7 global news machine enough already during the day. Besides there more to life than politics and current events, like football.
This brings me to my main discussion this week, the NFL playoffs. If you are a true sports fan, this is the best time of the year. Only six teams qualify for the playoffs in each conference. Just to get to the playoffs is an accomplishment for many teams. It's not like the NBA and NHL where only the most hapless teams don't make the playoffs. There is no five or seven game series in the NFL playoffs. I don't have to wait for over a week to find out which team gets to move on to the next round. The NFL playoffs consists of only four games including the Super Bowl. Each game is epic. The "one-and-done" dimension to each playoff game adds a level of unpredictablity. A talent-filled team could have a bad day and be swept out of the playoffs in a New York minute.
Here are some of my thoughts so far on the NFL playoffs:
I think Donovan McNabb's mother has used 14 minutes of her 15 minutes of fame. Sometimes I wish Donovan McNabb's mom was apprehended by covert CIA operatives as part of the agency's extradition program. I picture her being kidnapped right after she filmed her last Chunky Soup commerical. The CIA agents put a black hood over her head and throw her in the back of a truck. Three months later they drop her off in the dead of night on a dirt road in Albania.
